General Conference Scones



Aunt Dee Ann’s Scones
            2 C. scalded milk         ½ C. shortening           3 eggs
            ½ C. sugar                   3 Tbsp. yeast               1 tsp. salt
            ½ C. warm water       6 C. flour

Dissolve yeast in water. Scald milk and add to the sugar; cool. Add beaten eggs, salt, and yeast. Slowly add flour till soft dough forms; knead till elastic. Let rise ½ hour. Roll out ½ of it ¼” thick and cut into triangles. Fry in oil until brown on each side. Serve with butter, honey, jam, powdered sugar, or peanut butter.
